Zippy

I've had a bit of a tracksuit and hoody kind of week this week, hence no outfit posts but I went all out today!! As you can see from the photos, I troweled on the makeup, put a pretty dress on and straightened the locks. I instantly had a better day today as well. It's mad how as soon as I put some effort into my appearance I feel instantly better and more positive about everything.

I've had this dress for a while and I've been meaning to wear it but I kept putting it off. I saw it hanging in the wardrobe and I knew today was the day to whack it out. It's from Very and, although the fabric is utter shite, I like the print, style and length on me. It's that kind of tacky material that if you went near a naked flame you'd instantly go up in smoke. I love the autumnal, digital floral print and the zip running down the front of it. I thought I'd mix it with my leopard print coat. Pretty full on, but I'm no wall flower so we cool.

This dress goes up to a UK24 and I got my usual size but I'd say it comes up pretty big, especially in the bust area so if you are a 26 I reckon you could get into it.

I'm wearing a new lippy today, it's Rouge Buzz from Bourjois and I love the tangerine colour. It's a nice rich glossy lipstick and although I'm not wearing it with a lip liner, it hasn't bled which is good. I think I will take a look at the other colours in the collection when I am next in Boots.

I've had these brogues for a lonngg time but they are from Clarks and super comfy!

What do you think to wearing this much colour in winter? Do you prefer an all black ensemble or do you go for it like I have in this outfit?

Black Heart Creative custom design Wu necklace

Two things, I love Blackheart Creatives and I love Wutang. Combine the two and you get this AWESOME necklace.

If you want anything made in acrylic.... go to these guys. They will make you absolutely anything you want. I have their well known Fat Bitch necklace which you can see here, but I'm honoured to own this beauty now! They used a thicker than usual chain as I love the tacky shit (as you might have noticed) but they can use gold or silver and their standard chain length is 48cm although you can request shorter or longer. You can get anything made!! Maybe you fancy your name or a saying or your favourite animal...anythingggggggggg.

Have a peek at their site and let me know what you think of their stuff. I'm going to wear this sooo much I can just tell.

Sleek Brow Kit review

In the past I haven't done anything to my brows. They have been the same shape for as long as I can remember and I only pluck the strays in the centre to stop me from having a mono brow and the odd stray ones underneath.

As part of my make up routine, I have always just swept clear mascara over them to tidy them up and set them in place. This previously had always been good enough for me. I have steered clear of getting them tinted, threaded, shaped, waxed and just simply kept them as the bushy beasts they are. I like how they frame my face and I like them to be a strong feature.

I had noticed a fair few brow products on the market and although I'd seen reviews of them and thought they looked great, I'd not tried any myself. This all changed when I was in Superdrug the other day and I spotted the Sleek Brow Kit and decided to take the plunge!

I chose the 'Dark' kit and I can happily say it's the perfect shade for me. They do 'Light', 'Dark', 'Extra Dark' and 'Black'. Included in the set is some setting powder, shaping wax, an angled brush, a blending brush and a mini set of tweezers.

Now, you might read my way of doing things and be like 'erm, Danie why are you doing it that way?' but to be honest.... that isn't my problem ha ha. I've found a way I like using the kit and it's perfect for me and the effect I'm going for.

Firstly I still like to sweep my brows with a clear mascara. I use a cheap and cheerful one from Seventeen. This sets them in place and allows me to see what shape I'm working with. You can use the tweezers at this stage to neaten them up if you spot any strays. I don't love any of the brushes that the set comes with, but they will do until I can afford to treat myself to some better ones.

After the mascara has dried, I then like to use the powder, on the angled brush to create the desired shape that I like. Now, I've seen on other reviews and even the Sleek Makeup site that they suggest you use the wax and then the powder but for some reason I like to use them the other way round. Once I have used the angled brush to draw an outline around the brow, I then fill in the brow with some of the powder. You can use as much or as little as you like to build up the desired look.

Once I have filled the brow in with powder, I then set the hair with the shaping wax. Again, everyone else does it the other way round but I love how mine turn out doing it this way so I shall stick to what I l know. I use the shaping wax with the blending brush and sweep it across my entire brow. The wax slicks the hairs down and voila... they are done.

I love, love, love this kit and it's going to be a staple in my routine from now on. I think the price of £8.49 is great as I can't see it running out any time soon.

What do you use on your eyebrows guys? Do you use a kit like this? Maybe you use the pricier version from Benefit called Brow Zings?

What I wore to an event at Debenhams.

On monday evening I attended an event at the new Debenhams on Oxford Street. The best thing about the evening was seeing my friends, drinking copious amounts of champagne, wandering round the gorgeous new store and the goody bags. So, I'm aware that it's not very cool/the done thing to say you loved the goody bags when talking about an event but to be fair they were pretty epic. I also absolutely loved the outfit I chose to wear for it!

The mega lovely Charlotte from SimplyBe sent me a few items to review and one of the pieces I chose was this awesome fit and flare dress. I think the print is brilliant. So, we've got on trend tartan and then they've added an ombre effect to the bottom of it and then they've sprinkled it with leopard print; genius! At first I thought it looked like it wasn't going to fit but once I pulled it over my head I realised everything was going to be a-ok. I ordered my normal size in SimplyBe clothes (Uk20) and it is perfect. I fancied mixing up the accessories a bit and went with a black boot from Office with tan bag...cuuurrrazy I know! 'Clarins Red' by Clarins is of course on my lips and lets not forget my ultimate Galibardy 'Amber' necklace which I see they have re stocked this year...go go go!

The evening was a celebration of the newly opened store and there was an itinerary of things that you could do during the evening but my priority was having a laugh with my girls, drinking the place dry and trying to stop myself from spending a fortune.

I did really well on all fronts I feel. There was 15% off everything in store or you could get £10 off a £50 spend. Now, I have zilch money at the moment so the whole £50 spend malarky was out of the question but I did find myself drooling over the Urban Decay counter and I have to admit I did end up purchasing one of their Super Saturated High Gloss Lip Colors. I ummed and arred about which colour to get and ended up buying the very sparkly hot pink shade called Adrenaline. I will probably do a proper blog post over the next few days to show you what that one looks like.

We wandered abound the store and in different areas of the store you were able to meet and chat to different designers that sell in the store. We ended up meeting and chatting to a bed linen designer called Vicki Murdoch who was so lovely. As you may or may not know, I am a big print lover and design textiles myself. Vicki's prints are super cool. I LOVED the swan designs and don't get me started on her actual shirt she was wearing. If you want to see more of her work you can check it out here. The heart/swan jobby is definitely on my Christmas list.

Check the print out on her shirt...soooo good!
The way she draws reminds me of how I like to draw. I really like the simplicity of the designs.

We ventured back up to the food hall where we drank yet more champagne and were also given our goody bags. I didn't actually get a shot of what was inside my bag but I could do a haul if you guys wanted to see? I have plenty of pics of us all holding said goody bags with big grins on our faces or sitting near them if that makes any difference?

Excited girls! It doesn't take much to make us happy!
After we had finished at the event we headed next door to MEATliquor for some serious food action and then a wander back down Oxford Street made me smile. It sank in that I would be returning here in the new year, to live and that I would be permanently with my friends again and that I am about to start a new chapter in my life. I cannot wait!

The Christmas lights looked so lovely and I found myself appreciating them far more than when it was rush hour a few hours previous!

I hope you enjoyed this mish mash of a post! What do you think of my new dress guys?
