12 Badass Summer Trainers You Need Right Now

Summer is the perfect time to inject some colour into your shoe collection and your trainers shouldn't be any different.

We all own trainers right? I didn't think I liked them until about two years go and even I now own more pairs than I'd like to admit. I've noticed my most recent trainer purchases have all been different colours so I thought I'd put a little edit together showing you my faves. They are the perfect way to spice up a monochromatic outfit and what better way to bring a bit of joy to those feet of yours.

Lunch at Malibu Kitchen - The Ned

Have you heard about The Ned, London's newest hotspot? If you haven't, I'm here to tell you all about it and what you can expect if you dine with them in their Malibu Kitchen restaurant.

The Ned is a 5* hotel & members club, situated in Bank, London and is home to various restaurants, an indoor/ outdoor pool, spa & gym. I love when a new spot pops up in London, so when Callie told me she was taking me there for my 31st birthday; I was dead excited.

Nine, yes NINE restaurants make up The Ned's former banking hall and each of them serve a variety of dishes from around the world. In today's post, I want to take you to lunch at Malibu Kitchen. Callie, my BFF knows that I am obsessed with salads. I love a good salad and eat one pretty much every day, even mid winter! Callie was such a sweetheart and chose for us to eat at Malibu Kitchen because the menu is superfood salad, raw food and smoothie heavy...allll the good stuff!

Taking a glimpse at the menu en route, I was super exited. One look and you can tell it's going to be fresh, colourful and wholesome.

Initially, we were seated in the centre of the mini restaurant. Perching on stools, I wasn't the comfiest.  Fibromyalgia + stools don't mix incredibly well so Callie asked if it was ok to be moved to a booth. The restaurant was packed but the Maitre D' was kind enough to move us when a booth became available and they helped us move over our drinks. The Maitre D' was very helpful but I must say, some of the waitresses were not the friendliest. I hope their service improves as time goes on.

To celebrate my birthday we went straight to the cocktail menu. A quick browse and we both landed on the Beetroot Sangria. Now, a word of warning guys...only go for this drink if you LOVE beetroot and enjoy a relatively bitter drink! It was all a bit much for Callie and she had to change her choice but I loved it and really enjoyed the earthy, sharp drink.

Not being content with just the one cocktail, we moved onto Aperol Spritz' which if you follow me on social media; you will know is my number 1 fave drink. The bar (situated to the back of the restaurant) made my Aperol perfectly, 10/10.

Just look at the colour of the Beetroot Sangria.

Avacado Dip, taro chips & crudite

Have you ever seen something so beautiful?

Looking like something straight out of California, this Avo bowl was an actual dream. Buttery, ripe avocados with a whole host of crunchy bits to dip in. The taro chips were the tastiest little morsels and I'm going to need a huge bag of them right now come to think of it! At £7, I think the starter is really reasonable and I'd absolutely order it again.

Shishito Peppers, lemon, bottarga, almond aioli

Callie ordered these peppers and although they were presented nicely... I'm not going to lie to you. I only tried the one because I am not a huge fan of cooked peppers/chillis. The peppers weren't spicy which is a plus for me (I hate hot food) and the bottarga was super tasty. Callie seemed impressed and for £6 it's not going to break the bank.

Ahi Tuna Poke, avocado, sesame, jalapeƱo, brown rice

I would honestly eat this dish every day for the rest of my life.

I like to exaggerate BUT when I say this is one of the nicest things I've ever eaten; I am not exaggerating. When we first sat down, the waitress told us the tuna poke bowl was out of stock and I was pretty disappointed as this is what I'd ordered in my head. By the time we actually made it past the starters, the tuna was back in stock and I of course put in my order. The waitress told us the tuna was so fresh that the chefs had only just finished preparing it... omg YASSS!

Another beautifully presented dish and the taste matched the aesthetics. The dressing, served in a separate dish was sharp, lemony, garlicy and just damn right incredible. I must have said 'mmmmmm' with every mouthful and basically hugged the Maitre D' when he asked if we were enjoying our food. The tuna looked and tasted so fresh and the rice was cooked to perfection. I like the bite that brown rice gives and the scattered seaweed was a pretty, tasty addition. For £13 I would say that this dish was worth every last penny and if you go to The Ned and eat this dish, tell me what you think of it!

I have decided that every time a brand asks to meet me for lunch, I'm going to suggest Malibu Kitchen and I'm slowly but surely going to try every last dish on that menu. Please give it a try next time you are in central London and I'll probably see you there seeing as I think I'm going to move in. My aim is to eat at all nine restaurants by the end of the year...watch out for my reviews along the way!

Barnardo's - One of a Kind

It's no secret, I love to shop and I love browsing the 'New In' section of what feels like every single online store out there! I am clothes obsessed to be quite honest with you.

The thing with fast fashion is that it is constantly churned out, day after day and we fill our wardrobes with endless clothes that sometimes don't even get worn. Barnardo's charity say that "around £44 billion" is spent on clothes in the UK every year, a figure that quite frankly blew my mind.

One thing that I know I am guilty of is sometimes forgetting that there are AMAZING charity shops out there, full to the brim with incredible pre-loved clothes and one of a kind gems that will take your high street outfits to the next level.

When Barndardo's reached out to me and told me about their 'One Of A Kind' trend book; I was instantly intrigued and was over the moon when I saw that they had decided to exclusively use plus size girls. The trend book features a selection of Spring/Summer '17 looks and every outfit is made up of clothes and accessories donated to their stores.

I urge you guys to take a look at the trend book, which you can pick up in store or download here and take a look at the gorgeous looks they have created. I hope that the trend book, as well as the look I have created below will inspire you to pop into your local Barnardo's branch and add a little chazza shop realness into your wardrobe.

If you do pick up something from Barnardo's, not only are you going to own something that is cool and unique; but you're also going to be helping to support the thousands of vulnerable children that the charity helps. It's a win win situation!

Keep your eyes peeled for part II of this post where I show you another look I've created using a pre-loved Barnardo's item!

I can't get enough of: Geometric earrings

I'm going to take you guys wayyyyyy back for a moment...

Hands up who followed me at the start of my blogging career when all I wore were statement necklaces? I hope to god some of you have stuck around...if you have; thank you kindly!

Nowadays I hardly wear a necklace and if I do; it's a thin gold chain or a long chain with some kind of geometric shape on the end of it. My *thing* over the last few years has been to wear huge chunky, mostly perspex rings and my ultimate faves; a statement earring.

When I say statement earring, I don't actually mean an all singing, all dancing chandelier set but more of a modern, eye catching pair. Without realising, my collection of geometric shaped earrings has grown and guess who is happy that geometric jewellery is 'in' at the moment?! Yep, I ammmmmm!

Take a look at my geometric earring edit and join the club! I guarantee they will be a conversation starter and you'll wear them for years to come.

The London Hilton Bankside - A review

Now, I have a confession's to make... I should have posted this post a longggg time ago but for some reason, I didn't get round to it. I'm going to rectify that now and crack on with this little review of the wonderful London Hilton Bankside.

Back in February during London Fashion Week, I was given the opportunity to stay at the London Bankside for a night and from the welcome at reception to the impeccably fluffy pillows; I can't really fault it. Situated in heart of London, the Hilton Bankside was perfectly placed for my week at Fashion Week. A short taxi ride from the centre and I was at the hotel and ready to throw myself onto my Hilton Serenity Bed *aka one of the comfiest beds I've ever slept on. Important to note how close this hotel also is to numerous underground stations such as Southwark and Blackfriars. If its sight seeing you're after, the hotel is super close to landmarks like The Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe.

The London Hilton Bankside is 'a new breed of design-driven Hotels' and I couldn't agree more. The hotel feels fresh, modern and well looked after.

For my stay, I simply needed a fully functioning, clean room, a hearty breakfast, a powerful shower and somewhere to store all my fashion week outfits. I am happy to say; all my needs were met (bar the breakfast which you can read about at the end of the post)

My Room

I stayed in a King Deluxe Room and you know when you first walk in and see your room - you pray you're going to be happy don't you?! I seriously was and I was really impressed with the interior design of the room/ *entire hotel actually. The hotel is really nice and clean (one of the things that I find seriously important) and I was impressed with all the little extras scattered around the room and bathroom. There was also a bathrobe for me to wear... love a good bathrobe guys! A small, but very important thing which made me happy was that the bathroom had flannels in it. You'd be surprised at how many hotels don't have them and I hate having to pack one when I stay away.

The mini fridge was stocked with various drinks, there was plenty of tea and coffee to get stuck into and I stayed up into the early hours watching films on the in-room movie channel.

I was a happy camper!

Please note, these photos were taken the following morning. I promise the bed looked perfect when I arrived!

Plenty of space to store my LFW pieces, plus an iron in the room because... let's be honest, I crease everything and you can't rock up to fashion week looking like a mess can you!

Onto my second confession...I was SO tired thanks to fashion week that I over slept and missed breakfast. I was gutted about this because a) hotel breakfasts are LIFE and b) it meant I didn't get to take any snaps for you! Hilton Bankside, if you're reading this...I could always come back for another stay and review the breakfast for you...wink wink, nudge nudge!

I mentioned it at the start of the post, but one thing that really impressed me was the service. Nothing was too much trouble and you were always greeted with a smile - such a simple yet important thing!

A range at ASOS perfect for plus size women.

We all know that ASOS Curve is one of the leading plus size retailers. The clothes are on point, the variety is impressive and generally fit and quality is pretty damn good. I find shopping on ASOS scarily easy! Before I know it, theres 5 things in my basket and bamn I've just spent £100 on clothes. I'm guessing a number of you are sitting there nodding your heads in agreement?!

I am pretty proud to say that I am one of the go to plus size bloggers when it goes to finding new brands/ranges that are plus size friendly. I have introduced a lot of people to Isolated Heros, Monki, COS and the focus for todays post; ASOS White.

ASOS White

is a range at ASOS which runs from size 4 - 18. The premium collection is made up of amazing silhouettes, edgy shapes and cuts and the most amazing fabrics. Prices start at approx £35 and go up to £150+. The reason I am explaining all this is because although the sizes only go up to an 18, I have found many of the pieces are plus size friendly.

I spotted ASOS white about two years ago and bought an oversize denim jacket but it wasn't until last year that I really payed it any attention. My wardrobe is now full of ASOS White pieces and I want to show you one of my most recent purchases in todays post.

ASOS White: The Fit

I am a UK 22 in dresses and I bought a size 16 in this dress (sadly out of stock). It is trial and error when trying this range and I suggest buying multiple sizes to see what fits you. I don't know how this range would suit a lady size 26+ but it is definitely worth experimenting! As with any range, try things on...you never know what might work for your shape! I find the jersey pieces and the over size shirts work best on plus size figures, the more tailored/fitted pieces/denim doesn't work as well but each piece is different so give things a try!
